I’ve been getting a lot of questions on where I like to shop for my little kiddos. So I wanted to share one site that is always a winner for me. DLK also know as Design Life Kids. They have the best carefully curated collection of children’s fashion, accessories, toys and decor for the modern aesthetic loving family. Carrying brands like Mainio, Nor Folk, Tiny Cottons, Dumye, Mint Rhapsody and many more urban labels. Whether you are shopping for yourself or looking for a gift, you can always count on them for unique items leaving your wallet empty but your heart content. Here are my current picks from their site.
We rarely venture out to the East Bay but this trip to Temescal Alley in North Oakland has totally won me over. For those of you who are not from the Bay Area, Oakland is east of San Francisco and about 20 minutes out.
Some Saturdays during the summer you will find us at the Ferry building farmer’s market where we like to eat lunch. We can usually count on the weather to be 10 degrees higher than by our house. It’s also a great place to pick up fresh flowers.
Lately, Taye and I have been living in our new Hugo loves Tiki sweatshirts. SF natives know that no matter how hot the day may be, it is always smart to bring an extra layer. Our weather is so unpredictable that it could be warm in the morning but as soon as Karl the fog rolls in, everything changes. Visitors: you’re welcome. You will thank me later for this tip.
Pressed Juicery is always a must when we are there! Below little man has been obsessed with basketball. Probably more so since the Warriors won the championship. So as you can see he’s practicing his moves in those pics. The jumping one is one of my all time favs.

Happy Friday friends! Summer is absolutely one of my favorite seasons because we spend 90 percent of the time outdoors. To celebrate this time of year we decided to take Layla to the beach. As you can see Layla is definitely beach ready. What a little babe! For this shoot Mina and I used only 5 things to create this set and it all cost under $15 dollars. The waves were created by used paper bags and everything else with the exception of the watermelon is from Target. Have you checked out their outdoor section? So many goodies! side note: I even picked up beach chairs for $10. Mina thrifted her swim suit and cap but it’s actually Circo by Target. What a cutie!

Time is really going by too quick. Here’s a little update on baby O. Just the other day he turned two months. It seem like just yesterday when we brought him home from the hospital and he was spending most of his days sleeping. Now he’s awake more and interacts with us. He is starting to smile and talk. We have no idea what he is saying but he sure does look cute doing it. I can spend all day chatting with him and making him giggle. We bought him a playmat from Ikea and he is starting to kick his feet up and swing his arms around to play with the hanging dolls.
I feel so lucky that he is such an easy and happy baby. I might of just jinxed myself by saying that but he really is. Thank god because if he was a difficult one, I don’t know if I could handle these two together. I’m really trying to savor every moment because I know with a blink of an eye he’s going to be a year old and walking. Altough I want to freeze time right now, I’m excited to see the boys play together in the future. Hopefully they will be close. I don’t have any siblings so I’m going to be figuring out this whole brotherly love thing at the same time as the boys. Wish me luck.

Summer is here and the one thing I love about fashion during this season are the dresses. Each year I always look for one or two that can carry me through the entire summer . In my search I discovered a new label [well new to me] that I am currently obsessed with. Reformation! Heard of them? I love the retro and timeless shapes and silhouettes. They design and manufacture their collections in their own factory in LA. They source sustainable fabrics and vintage garments, and incorporate sustainable practices throughout their supply chain. This allows them to provide such great prices. I can’t want to get my hands on some of their pieces. Here are some of my favorite looks.

Hi, I’m Layla and this is my curly hair friend, Taye!
You guys I’m beyond excited for you to see this one because it features the two most adorable little peanuts we know. Yup they are our very own so yes we are totally biased. What are the chances that both Mina and I have a kid with curly hair?!! So we thought it would be super cute to have them get together for a rainy playdate in their rain boots.
The first thing that comes to mind when April starts to arrive are “April Showers.” Although I have to say there hasn’t been much of it in the bay area this year, hence the drought we are facing. In any case, Mina and I thought it would be fun to create a rainy and wet mood for these two little adventurers to explore.
We knew we really wanted clouds and rain for our shoot so Mina made the prop cutting out a cloud shape from cardboard. She used a 4′ dowel rod and adhered it to the cardboard cloud with a hot glue gun. To create the rain, long strands of cotton string were glued along the bottom of the cloud. Then used batting, from a local fabric store, and hot glued clumps on the cardboard to create the fluffy cloud effect. Tada! A fun cloud prop! Super easy and cheap!

I can’t believe the first half of the year is almost over and soon enough it will be summer. A big thank you again to Mina for being so talented and having the cutest little girl to feature each month. See you back for May when the flowers bloom!

In your last trimester it is very easy to give up on style and just stick to leggings and tunics. Nothing wrong with that but let’s be real it could get boring. But this time around for my second pregnancy, I wanted to continue being stylish for as long as I could so I could feel great. And all you really need are some key pieces to hold you down. No need to go on a shopping spree. I bet you didn’t know you probably already have a few things in your closet to work with.
Here are my top 5 key pieces:
+ Maternity skinny jeans or use a belly band if you love your regular jeans
+ Basic tees
+ Statement piece like a trench coat
+ Low profile sandals or a great pair of sneakers (depending on the season)
+ Awesome clutch
See simple! If you are reaching your last leg or starting your pregnancy. Congrats! And here’s to styling the bump and looking great because a baby bump is beautiful and chic!

It’s almost TIME!
The count down of weeks and days is on!!! No more months. I have about 3 1/2 weeks or 22 days to go. Kind of scary when I see it that way.
I’ve been feeling a little nervous thinking about all the things I still have to do to prepare for his arrival. I finally went through all of Taye’s old clothes to see what I can use but I have to find the time to wash it all. As if I don’t already spend most days doing enough laundry for little man and me. I guess the good thing about having another boy is I don’t have to spend tons of money on new clothes. I know the husband is happy about that.
On to names-we still don’t have one narrowed down. Boys names are just so much harder than girls. We had our baby girl name picked out before we even ever had Taye but the funny thing is we might never have a girl. I did ask for some suggestions on Instagram a couple weeks back. Thank you for all the wonderful names.
This last stretch of pregnancy is a little up and down for me. My body is definitely stretched to it’s fullest so there are days I can’t wait to have him out already but then I know once he is out I will miss being pregnant. It’s always bittersweet. It’s really hard to lean down to pick up something off the floor, or tie my shoes, or sit down in one position for more than 20 minutes. And the one thing I miss most is sleeping on my stomach. When those things get me down I just keep telling myself it’s almost over. Everyone keeps telling me that having two boys is amazing. Well at least after the first year. They will be able to keep each other busy and allow me some free time. I really hope that is true.
The other day when I woke up, peanut said to me, “mama are you excited for Rainbow to come out?” I just looked at him and couldn’t stop smiling. I told him I couldn’t wait for him to be a bigger brother. He said, “I’m really excited to meet him!”
Here’s to the last weeks.

We LOVE ice cream just as much we love FRIDAYS!!!! What are your plans this weekend? We spent a day during spring break having an amazing lunch in the dog patch then headed for ice cream at Mr. & Mrs. Miscellaneous. Seriously one of the cutest ice cream shops in San Francisco that offer ridiculous flavors like pink Squirrel, candied violet and buttermilk lemon. I had the thai tea and salted mango and it did not disappoint. And being 8 months pregnant, hands down I was in heaven. For sure one of our favorite pastimes as a family is visiting all the ice cream shops in SF.
Decisions, decisions, It was so hard to decide on what flavors (notice I said flavors, not flavor. You bet I got double scoops!) You’ll see my happy ice cream face down below.
Can’t believe it’s Spring time already. Stripes is an easy staple for this time of year. I probably can safely say I have a drawer of stripes in my closet. It’s such a timeless and classic print that you can never go wrong with.

Remember in the beginning of the year I told you I would be introducing a couple of new series?! Well friends, this is the first post of “His & Hers” where style meets adventure. Call it our version of #ootd mama and kid style.
We took a little morning hike around Sutro Baths at Ocean Beach in our Vans Checkerboards to look for Dinosaurs and eggs. And of course we don’t go anywhere without Ironman. They really have done a great job of revamping this place up. I remember when I use to come here as a teenager all the trails were rocky and you had to climb at your own risk. Now it’s beautifully landscaped with proper trails and a look out building. Can’t believe in another month I will be hiking with two boys! Ah life is pretty damn sweet.
See Ironman goes wherever we go. Although most of the time he ends up in my purse to sleep. It’s all about super heroes and dinosaurs right now. I got this adorable Pretzel Pretzel bear and pom necklace for Taye from the new Tug Tug store We found a really big dinosaur egg and hide it in a safe place in the cave.

It’s safe to say that I will always shop locally and support local makers over big retailers any day. I love the feeling of buying a piece of work from someone knowing they poured their blood, sweat and tears into making it. So when my long time friend Angie Kim started AYK, her leather goods line I knew I had to support this beautiful craft and of course her journey. This week I was lucky enough to visit Angie’s San Francisco studio and talk to her about work, life and of course just to catch up!
THK: Where and how did this dream of yours begin?
Starting my own line has always been on my list of life goals, but also something that felt like an unattainable dream. Looking back, I realize it was all about timing and having the right mindset to get things going.
I was working as an Industrial Designer at IDEO for a while and decided to take on a project based in India for 7 months. As cliche as it may sound, India really woke me up. Everyday I would walk by makers and craftsmen creating beautiful products. The intimacy of their work and the direct relationship with their customers was refreshing to witness in a profession where it often takes years, if ever, to see your products come to life. Being there gave me the nudge I needed to start my own endeavor rooted in craft and making. It shifted my energy from thinking ‘one day’ to ‘I can make it happen now.’
THK: How does it feel to work for yourself and what are some of the biggest challenges?
There are moments where the daily and long-term challenges feel daunting, but the flip side to that is you learn to make choices that are liberating and empowering. I’ve learned to trust that it will all work out and to believe in myself.
I remember after leaving IDEO, I would wake up in the morning and think, “Ok… now what do I do with myself today?” After being a part of a well-oiled machine with lots of people and structure around you, I found it terribly difficult to create my own inertia everyday. But eventually you figure out a new rhythm, and now the next biggest challenge is figuring out how to expand the business. It’s pretty amazing to look back and know moving forward that you can and will get through every obstacle you face.
THK: How would you best describe your collection and style?
AYK is about taking classic silhouettes and adding a personal touch that connects you to the material. I wanted to design something that spoke about the remarkable traits of leather and that brought beauty, fluidity, and strength to a woman’s wardrobe.
THK: Tell me a little about the design and production process and what it’s like?
Designing and crafting products is incredibly fulfilling. To think of an idea and to transform it into a tangible, usable object is one of the most rewarding experiences. Once I get started on something that excites me, I get lost in my own world. It’s like a puzzle that hasn’t been explored, but somehow my mind has already envisioned the outcome and I’m just exploring all the details until I find harmony.
THK: What does a typical AYK day look like?
Absolutely non-routine. Each day is wildly different as you take on new roles, new challenges, and new ideas. It can be pretty exciting as you meet interesting people and when you see your hard work come together. Other days can be quite frustrating as you navigate setbacks and tough logistics. Let’s just say, I’m learning how to chill out and surf the wave.
THK: Any advice for someone trying to start their own business?
The entrepreneur road will break you down and build you up, but it’s worth it if you are passionate about your product. It’s a road taken just as much for your professional development as it is for your personal growth. However, I would urge people to ask if what you’re offering serves a greater need or if it’s an unstoppable desire to express your voice. If it’s yes to either, then do it. Believe in yourself because you really do have the ability to make it happen.
THK: What’s next for AYK or Angie Kim?
Kickstarter has been a wonderful platform in so many ways. It’s pushed me to articulate the vision and story behind AYK, and allow the customer to be a part of the journey. As a one-woman ship at the moment, it holds me accountable to delivering quality products to the people who’ve invested in me and my passion. There is one week left until the campaign closes, and then I’ll be off running to get these goods made and delivered. In the near future, my goal is to expand the product line, provide more color options, and get it in stores for people to pick up and enjoy.
AYK’s Kickstarter campaign has a couple more days left so please go and support her goal. I’m so incredibly proud and honored to call her my friend. She is truly an inspiration to all women out there who have a dream and continue to push boundaries. So what are you waiting for?! Get out there and make it happen because you too can have it all!
Thank you Angie for allowing me to visit your studio and see your beautiful pieces in person. I can’t wait to spot all the AYK goodies out and about in the city!
Last week I spent 48 hours in LA for a business trip for my upcoming project. Can’t quite tell you all about it just yet but I promise to give you the inside soon. We literally flew in worked, ate, slept (all for the hustle) in two days. I barely got to kick up my feet but along the way we still got to see some great things that I manage to capture. I love LA for all the creative people and places.
We got hooked up to stay at the Line in K town. It’s a super cool boutique hotel with the best dinning options like the Pot (korean food) and Commissary (healthy eating in a greenhouse). Two must eat places and you don’t have to go far. I mean where else can you get Spam, eggs and rice for breakfast?! They also have a small Poketo store in their lobby for awesome Knick Knacks. Below is the Art District. I love Apolis and Poketo definitely two of my favorite shops to check out for inspiration.

For my personal style as a mom, I like to follow certain trends that I see matches my aesthetic but the most important function is comfort. I’m all for looking great but feeling good is even better! So needless to say I’m currently obsessed with Emerson Fry‘s new cold Spring Line. Here is a preview walkthrough of their SS15 line.
Their long time customers know that they typically focus on tonal dressing and looking at how many ways you can wear a piece throughout the year. As I get older I’m always looking for timeless pieces to add to my wardrobe. I try not to waste my money on items that are too trendy and won’t last. This season EF worked a lot with tonal greys and textural whites. Tonal grey head to toe is a nice light alternative to black. And everyone knows that grey and black are my two of favorite colors!

Happy Valentine’s Day! Hope you are getting spoiled by your loved ones. Brad and I usually never celebrate this holiday because we believe that you should do something nice for your partner everyday. So in honor of that, I’m celebrating today by sharing our second Mini Utopia featuring Layla for all you moms out there.
The concept for this shoot was inspired by the Beatles Song “All you need is LOVE” which we feel is a message that is still very relevant today. Images of the late 60’s and Woodstock, with hippies and flower children came to mind. Mina imagined Layla in a field surrounded by beautiful flowers.
To create this whimsical back drop, Mina used paper tissue to create the flowers and then fashioned them onto a miniature wooden chair. She created the large heart from grapevine wreath. She also made a quick and simple crown from artificial flowers. Very simple and easy to DIY.
Thanks again to Mina and Layla for another cute feature! Get ready for next month it’s going to be another awesome one.

Happy Valentine’s Day!
Sorry for the radio silence recently but forgive me, I’m in the works of moving to a new place so things are a bit cray right now. Today I’m super excited to introduce you to one of the brand new spankin’ series I mentioned in my last post. I’ve partnered up with the talented Mina Caragay who is the mama of the insanely adorable Layla with the best Instagram feed you must follow. If you already follow them think of this series as their feed on steroids. Each month we will feature Layla and her cute friends styled to the nines in front of a whimsical handmade set creating the coolest scenes. Why not create that imaginary world with your kids?! We hope to inspire you to have fun with your littles and give you some ideas for that next birthday party or just a fun shoot!
The Holiday season came and went, leaving behind a trail of used wrapping paper and cardboard boxes. Before they hit the recycling bins why not find a way to repurpose them. That’s how Mina came up with the idea of creating a large scale building block set. She picked up some chalkboard paint from her local Home Depot to create a canvas of endless possibilities.
In this scene, she envisioned Layla (her muse) shopping downtown in the city at night. And what does one wear when shopping? A Chanel Inspired look duh! The cool thing is this display also doubles up as building blocks too for hours of fun.
Layla enjoyed playing in the new environment by stacking and knocking down the oversized blocks. She played so hard she needed a nap! You know the saying, “Shop till you drop!”
A big thank you to this amazing duo for this awesome shopping adventure. I hope you enjoyed this new series and we can’t wait to share the next one with you!

Just wanted to share a couple pictures of our adventures from this past weekend. We got a mix of rain one day then sunshine the next. Strange but that didn’t stop us from having fun. These pictures are bittersweet for me. I’m so amazed by how much little man has grown. He looks like such a big boy now but his personality continues to shine! I swear no one can make us laugh like he does. We are lucky to live in a city where there is a bunch of places to go and things to do even in the rain. One of our favorites is the California Academy of Sciences. We are members so we always try to get our money’s worth. And we can’t wait for the reindeers and snow to arrive any minute now! As we were walking out we found a dinosaur foot on the ground. We searched high and low but we couldn’t find the dinosaur or his other foot. Below, it wouldn’t be a trip to the park without having Twirl and Dip! And how cute is this little pup? He was the sweetest and only 4 months old. Ok I’m not usually the one to give in when peanut wants to buy something at the store but this weekend, as we were walking into Nordstrom he spotted Olaf and went nuts. He was hugging him so tight I just couldn’t say No. And so he went home with us. When we got home he immediately introduced Olaf to the two other friends he sleeps with every night: Muno and Monkey. I mean look at how happy he is. I think it was worth it. This is what happens when dad and son goes to breakfast without mama. That pancake sure does look good but not as delicious as Taye’s cute little face! I just want to eat him up!
On me: H&M sweater, Karen Walker sunnies, Mansur Gavriel bag, AG jeans [similar], Joie booties [similar]. On Taye: Beau Loves hoodie, H&M jeans, Nike Free Run. We didn’t get to see the tree lighting but we did get to go and enjoy the festivities during the day at Pier 39.
♦♦ Taye’s beats for the day: Riptide-Vance Joy
I love this time of year so very much. There is a crisp in the air, the beautiful orange and brown leaves falling from the trees and breaking out all the sweaters again. Although when we recently took him to our cabin in Sonora, it was definitely not sweather weather. It was around 70-75 degrees every day. We walked around in t-shirts and shorts. Nice but I was really looking forward to my autumn outfits.
We love the city but sometimes it’s just nice to take the boys out to the woods and let them explore. They go from playing with trains and balls to playing with dirt, plants and rocks. They are covered in filth when they come inside but it’s so amazing to see the smiles on their faces from their outdoor adventures.
Dad and son skipping rocks! What’s kind of sad to see is how the drought has affected this pond. Normally where they are standing would be two feet of water at least. I’m really hoping for more rain this year. More rain equals more snow and snowboarding. Which means more trips to the cabin for us. Above, you can take these two grown kids out of the city but you can never take the kids out of our hearts! Below, how sweet is this?! He is pushing his cousin Evan on the swings. He knew how to push gently too. Such a sweet boy. Taye is wearing: RVCA trucker hat, Earth Cadets shirt, Zara kids pants, New balance sneakers Above, the boys playing with the cattails. They were shoving these in each other’s faces. I loved that he brought them back and said it was for me but my allergies were going nuts. This kid loves to cook. I’m so glad he does because when he gets older he can cook for us. Here he is helping me make turkey macaroni. Look at the concentration in cutting mushrooms. Such a natural.
♦♦Taye’s beats for the day: Go Outside-The Cults
[Left to right]
ONE: Really interesting article about the correlation between first born girls and divorce.
TWO: My dear friend Jeanne Chan recently started Lovemade, a new event series for the modern mom. Check out their amazing workshops.
THREE: I love wall art and Laura Blythman is not to be missed.
FOUR: We all know SF is expensive so I was looking at shared room inspirations for when I have more than one kiddo. This read from Mother Mag was perfect!
FIVE: I can’t wait to try this with Taye next weekend.
SIX: I love Rag and Bone‘s new pop up shop at Nordstrom going on Aug 8-Sep 7.
SEVEN: Great product for new moms with babies that are teething.
EIGHT: If you are obsessed with shopping for your kids, you must check out Little Gatherer. These sisters have great taste.
NINE: I’m going to attempt these nails.

Do you think 3 straight days of a music festival is too much to handle? Well if you were probably in your 20’s I would say HELL NO but in our case it was a bit too much for us old folks, so HELL YES. This is the fourth year we’ve gone to OSL in Golden Gate Park but we have never binged and gone all three days. It seemed like a good idea at the time but after the second day, my body started feeling the pain and we quickly realized we couldn’t party as hard any more. Yup we old. But even being so damn tired we still managed to have a ton of fun. The biggest disappointment for me was Kanye. Well I don’t even know if it was him because he was wearing a mask the entire time. For all we know it could of been Kim. Lykke Li and Capital Cities killed it. And I was super sad to have missed Ray LaMontagne because we went to eat and Chvrches because they didn’t show. I love love live music but I think Brad and I are going to stick to one day next year because at least this way it will only take us two days to recover and not a week.
Day ONE of what I wore: Aritzia Overalls * Target stripe tee *Club Monaco moto jacket (old) (similar) * Karen Walker sunnies * Rebecca Minkoff camera bag * Silver BirkenstocksThis hottie below is literally glowing during golden hour.Below is what we thought of Kanye’s performance. Once again he was RANTING. Day TWO: Neff beanie * Gap 1969 jacket * Zara plaid (old) (similar) * Nordstrom Rack tee * J Brand jeans (old) (similar) * Metallic Vans * Everlane backpack * Komono sunnies
Love me some Kate! Day THREE of what I wore: Club Manaco hat * Madewell dress * All Saint boots Lykke Li killed it!!! I love everything about her. Outside Lands you took me out! Thanks for the memories and see you next year.

This weekend I will be heading to Golden Gate Park to immerse myself in 3 days of ear popping music. With SF weather being so fickle you never know what you could be missing. Being my fourth year attending this festival, I think I have it down. I usually go for stylish yet practical. Here are my usual essentials that will have me ready for anything. Don’t forget to come back next week for more pictures.
Happy freakin’ friday!!! This has been one incredibly long week for me. Maybe it’s because I can’t stop thinking about our vacation starting next Tuesday. Maui here we come! It’s that time again for another DIY with Shop Sweet Things. This one today is extra special because we are featuring two of the cutest kids ever! Hayden, Jeanne’s oldest and of course my little monkey.
Lately I have been really into all the clay bead necklaces that are very popular in Australia. You can pretty much find a ton of artist on Etsy who make them but they are not always cheap. So we created this DIY and thought it would be super fun to have the kids join us and make their own. Especially since Jeanne told me that Hayden has been really into jewelry making. They make a really awesome art activity or great gifts. Find our full tutorial here. If you are not in a crafty mood and rather purchase one, I love Emily Green or Mama and Little.
I had to share these outtakes that were just too cute not too. These two are adorable together and they were so proud to wear their necklaces. Taye was very shy at first. He actually told me he was nervous but once he got comfortable, it was crazy party time. Have a fantastic weekend. I think it’s going to be a hot one in the bay. Hooray!!!
Hope your week is off to a good start. I just wanted to share a couple of pictures from one of the busiest weekends we’ve had so far during summer. Each day and night was filled with some kind of event. The good thing about keeping our kid out all day is that he gets real tired so bedtime is not a big struggle. And if I can recall, I feel asleep with him at 8 PM two days in a row. I guess that helps my insomnia. A little side note, why is it that I can always fall asleep no problem during the weekends but never during the work week?!
The picture above is a total cliche but yes we are cheesy family sometimes and we do take our peanut to the mall to have ice cream. Below are pictures from the Summer Renegade Crafts fair at Fort Mason. It seemed much busier this year. And just like every year it never fails, we always come home with some goodies.
Ellie Fun Day blankets and swaddles
Bracket cake toppers and party gear
Earth Cadet organic and recycled home goods
A Jenn Kindell piece I was dying to take home
Bryr handmade clogs
We went to a birthday party at Acro Sports in the city. Great non-profit organization and gynamsium for kids to help promote physical activity in the city.
Ended up at Off The Grid Picnic at the Presidio again. I guess we can never stay away. Too much good food and fun! Have a great rest of the week.
Happy hump day! Last year I discovered Jujubunnyshop while I was pinning. This online boutique carries a variety of children’s clothing brands from Korea, Europe and all over the world. They are well known for their unique and stylish selections. I also love their styling and photography. It’s times like these I wish I had a little girl. Happy shopping.
Last month we discovered TugTug while doing our weekend walk in our beloved Noe Valley neighborhood. I love finding new new stores to shop for the little man. When I first walked in I fell in love with a pair of yellow Moccasins and knew this place was a gem. I couldn’t wait to come back and take pictures and introduce you to the owner and the store.
This artsy lifestyle boutique is the baby of Regina Carter. She started with an online shop and lucky for us her brick and mortar is now open in our neck of the woods. This super sweet lady has done an amazing job curating the best independent designers like Goat-milk and Ace & Jig [a few of my favorites], who are sustainably producing clothing for babies, boys and girls. The fresh and clean space is also beautifully decorated. So be sure to pop in to say Hi to Regina if you are in the area.
[I couldn’t take my eyes off this jacket. I really wished it came in my size.]

I just recently discovered these beautiful Beatrice Valenzuela shoes. She designs a line of handmade shoes for Men, Women and kids that are inspired by ancient traditional styles of Mexico, Morocco and the Native America Indians. I love the craftsmanship and the natural fibers that are used to make them. And how about the amazing vibrant colors which are perfect for this spring and summer! If you are ever in Echo Park, stop by her flagship store that just opened last year which carries her shoes as well as unique handcrafted objects made by artisans throughout Mexico.

I am so ready to Spring forward this year because I am super tired of the foggy, cloudy cold weather. So Excited for all the bright colors and sunshine, maybe a little bit of April showers too <<maybe>>. Flowers will began to bloom and Easter is right around the corner.
When I want playful and fun prints I can always count on Mini Rodini to come through. Their Spring/Summer for 2014 just hit and I fell hard. Here are a few pieces that are definitely in my shopping bag. And seriously, can I get that Pineapple hat for myself?
20 more days till Christmas! Are you ready? I can’t wait bring it on, I’m counting down the days. Every year we get family pictures done for our holiday cards but this year I really didn’t want to spend too much. So I discovered Blink Inc in Corte Madera. I’m so glad I did because it’s affordable and efficient. You literally book it online, walk in, take your pics in 10 minutes, and VOILA! Short and sweet just the way I like it. I know you are wondering how the hell is 10 minutes enough time. Well it is, believe me. And the best part is you get your pics in one day.
Before we went to our shoot, Brad and I said we would only purchase one or two good ones for the cards. Oh dear, it went so well that we ended up spending more. If it was up to me alone I would of probably bought the whole package. shhh! don’t tell him that.
[yes we are the buffalo check family for the holidays and we love it!]

Have you ever heard of a Chinese tradition where you have to shave your babies head? It symbolises the shedding of the birth hair (or sometimes referred to as “hair from the womb”). And supposedly it will grow back stronger, healthier and more abundant. Well since I’m half Chinese my mother has been getting on my case since day one to shave Taye’s head. I strongly believe in embracing your culture but this one was hard for me. [so was not showering for a month which was even harder. Needless to say I was a bad daughter and showered the next day. I know total disgrace.] My kid has the most amazing set of curls and I could never imagine him without his trademark locks. I honestly don’t know how he got them. The fireman maybe?! Totally kidding. I mean both Brad and I had wavy hair but nothing even remotely close to the Shirley Temple do that my kid rocks. If we were to dress him up in all pink he would totally pass for a girl from the back. Wait, who am I kidding? Everywhere we go now people say, “ her hair is so cute, look at those curls”. And I say, “thank you but she is a he”. LOL. I tried to hold out and let it grow out as long as possible but I had to give in recently. [tear] One day we were at the playground and when the wind blew I caught him sweeping away his bangs that kept covering his eyes. I felt bad so I decided to give him a trim. As soon as I cut the first couple strands, I almost cried. But after I was done, I noticed the curls were still alive and well, just shorter. Thank god I didn’t lose my Shirley Temple!
[Look at those curls! It grows back right?! Yikes]
